Israel, Sudan Agree to Normalize Ties in U.S.-Brokered Deal

DIPLOMATIC TIES ESTABLISHED DURING TRUMP ADMINISTRATION

  • In 1967, the Arab League convened in the capital of Sudan and passed a famous resolution declaring "n peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel, no negotiations with it."

  • Sudan agreed to normalize relations with Israel on October 23, 2020

  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated: ""Today we announce another dramatic breakthrough towards peace," he said. "Today Khartoum says yes to peace with Israel, yes to acknowledging Israel and yes to normalization with Israel. This is a new era, an era of true peace."
